Carbone's Restaurant hosted it's Second Annual Pasta Engineering Contest in January of 2008. Local high school students had the chance to integrate math and science skills with hands on experience. Aspiring high school engineers got try their hand at constructing a spaghetti bridge using only, you guessed it, pasta and glue! Our grand prize winner this year was a tie between Derry Area and Hempfield High School. The “Pasta Engineering Contest” is designed to increase high school students’ awareness and possible career options in engineering. The students are required to work together in order to design and develop the overall strongest bridge made out of pasta. Our Third Annual "Pasta Engineering Contest" will be held in January of 2009.
